Pure Honey
|
Honeys vary in color (and content). The color of honey spans from water white to dark amber. The pale green honey throughout California comes from morning glory and bindweed flowers. There is also very distinctive blue to purplish honey on the coastal plain of North Carolina. This honey is gathered from the nectar of sourwood trees (Oxydendrum arboreum). The color of honey is quite dependant on the floral source. Buckwheat and tulip poplar as well as bamboo have a stronger flavor. Lighter honeys are typically milder and come from plants such as clover and alfalfa. Every flower has a virtue. And honey from flowers is the bounty. |
